Fall in Glendora sneaks up on you. The heat finally breaks, the light turns golden against the San Gabriel Mountains, and suddenly there's a reason to be outside again on a Saturday morning. After years of living and working in the foothills, we've built up a list of favorite ways to spend an October weekend here. Whether you've been in Glendora for decades or just unpacked your last box, here's how we like to enjoy the season.

What is the best fall event in Glendora?

For us, it's the annual Pumpkin Festival at Centennial Heritage Park. The park recreates a turn-of-the-century citrus ranch, complete with the Victorian-era Hamilton House and the workshop of Orton Englehart — the Glendora resident who invented the Rain Bird impact sprinkler. The festival, hosted by the Glendora Preservation Foundation with the city, pairs a pumpkin patch with food, games, and hands-on history activities. It has long been one of the most charming ways to connect kids with how Glendora got its start.

The festival is traditionally held on a Saturday in mid-October, and in recent years the city has run a free shuttle from City Hall because parking at the park is limited. Check the City of Glendora's events page for this year's date, hours, and admission before you head out.

Where should you spend a fall afternoon in the Village?

The Glendora Village is at its best when the weather cools down. Glendora Avenue is lined with locally owned shops, cafés, and restaurants, and it's easy to lose an afternoon wandering from one to the next. The Glendora Public Market, a food hall just off the Avenue, is a good stop when everyone in the group wants something different. The Village also hosts markets and seasonal events throughout the year — the Glendora Chamber of Commerce community calendar is the best place to confirm the current schedule.

Which trails are best near Glendora when it cools off?

October is when the foothills become hikeable again. Glendora Wilderness Park in Big Dalton Canyon offers shaded trails close to town, and the steep Garcia Trail just over the line in Azusa rewards the effort with views across the valley. We'll share a longer trail roundup later this month.

One important note: October is also Santa Ana wind season, and red flag warnings can close trails and parks with little notice. Check the city and the Angeles National Forest for current conditions, bring more water than you think you need, and start early in the day.

What else is there to do nearby on an October weekend?

Glendora sits in the middle of a lot of good options. The Los Angeles County Arboretum in Arcadia is beautiful as the season turns. The Rose Bowl Flea Market in Pasadena runs on the second Sunday of each month — we'll have a full guide ahead of this month's market. Old Town Monrovia makes an easy evening out, and since the Metro A Line opened its Glendora station in 2025, you can even leave the car at home for a trip into Pasadena. Halloween is its own event around here; our roundup of family-friendly events is coming later in October.

How can you get involved in Glendora this fall?

Some of the best ways to feel at home in Glendora have nothing to do with events on a calendar. The Glendora Public Library runs programs for kids and adults throughout the year, the Glendora Preservation Foundation relies on volunteers to keep Centennial Heritage Park and the Pumpkin Festival going, and service groups like the Rotary Club of Glendora organize community projects each season. Fall — when schedules settle back into a routine after summer — is a natural time to find your place in one of them. It's also how many of our clients say they went from living in Glendora to feeling like part of it.

Why fall is a great time to explore Glendora neighborhoods

If you're thinking about a move, fall is one of the best times to get to know Glendora on foot. The weather makes it pleasant to walk a neighborhood you're curious about, visit a few Sunday open houses, and notice the things a listing can't tell you — how the street feels in the evening, how close the trailhead really is, where the neighbors gather. We always encourage buyers to spend time in an area before making an offer, and October makes that easy.

Whether you're new to town or you've lived here for years, we love talking about what makes Glendora special. If you have questions about a neighborhood — or want our take on where you'd feel most at home — reach out anytime. We're always happy to share what we know.
